From the brief period of time we have spent learning about the plethora of characteristics of the weblog, it appears to have many potential uses (specifically as a teaching tool). In classes where personal interaction in constrained the weblog has the potential to act as a forum whereby members of a class have the potential to interact with both their peers and teachers - airing questions, discussing related topics and generally exchanging information. Moreover, weblogs could be used to allow those teaching courses to determine the effectiveness of their teaching methods, receive feedback with regards to their courses, and interact with students on a less formal level. Furthermore, they add an element of flexibility that is not really available through the use of more traditional methods.
So far I have found the
introduction to weblogs to be an insiteful starting point and enlightening look at what has the potential to be a very useful tool.
